Damian Hirst/Guardian quiz website
The Guardian newspaper teamed up with Damian Hirst and The Hours in this one off competition.
Client: Guardian newspaper
Agency: Ad-rich
Role: Lead PHP developer
The Guardian wanted dynamic quiz website. And they wanted it quickly. To cater for this speedy delivery I chose CodeIgniter as the PHP framework and created a tidy system that allowed for high levels of customisation for each question. This was difficult because each question had a different format. Some where cryptic, some where image based. A lot of thought went into making it very hard to cheat.
In the end the competition was incredibly successful, sometimes registering as many as 1000 new entrants per day. Whilst the competition was running I led the support team fielding questions from entrants and would answer up to 100 emails a day (in most cases politely informing the users that we could not offer assistance with answers).
The competition has now closed but the site is online here.
